Purification is an essential spiritual practice, removing the weight of negative karma (or negative mental energy) that holds us back and makes us suffer. During the coming months we have a series of introductory courses which will provide an explanation of different purification practices and also give us the opportunity to try them.

All these courses and retreat sessions are open to everyone and there is no fee for any of them. See below for full info and please give us a call if we can help with anything.

Three Superior Heaps Practice

Saturday, 23rd February, 10am to 12.30pm

The ‘Three Superior Heaps’ practice uses our connection to the Thirty Five Confession Buddhas as a powerful way to dispel negative karma and free ourselves from suffering. On this half day course we will receive an explanation of the practice and then have the opportunity to engage in the practice itself. This practice is suitable for everyone - it normally includes physical prostration but can be adapted for those not physically able.

Fasting Retreat

Introduction to the Practice: Saturday, 6th April

Fasting Retreat: Sunday and Monday, 14th and 15th April

This practice, which is done in conjunction with Eleven-faced Avalokiteshvara, is very powerful for purifying negative karma of body, speech, and mind, and for pacifying strong delusions such as desirous attachment and hatred. It is also a special method for receiving blessings and improving our experience of love, compassion and bodhichitta. Further details and timings for the retreat can be found here.

Vajrasattva Retreat

Saturday, 1st June

Introduction to the Practice: 10am to 11am

Retreat Sessions: 11.30am, 2pm and 4.30pm

‘Through the power of recitation and visualization, and through receiving Vajrasattva’s blessings, we will gradually purify our mind and our actions. In this way we can improve our qualities as a human being, and eventually become a special holy being.’
Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, Teachings on Vajrasattva, 1993

This year's NKT Spring Festival provides us with the opportunity to receive the Vajrasattva empowerment which will help make this practice more powerful but please note you do not need to have received this empowerment to attend this day or to participate in the retreat sessions.
