Half Day Course in Hereford - Saturday, 22nd June - 'Overcoming Anxiety with Meditation'

Meditate in Hereford
'Meditate in Hereford' is a weekly drop in class run by Jangchub Ling Buddhist Centre. Suitable for complete beginners and people of all backgrounds, the class provides guidance and support in how to develop a sustainable meditation practice. In particular we show how meditation and daily life can come together to nurture a rich, peaceful and fulfilled life.

Thursday Evenings, 7:30pm - 9pm

with Kadampa teacher Mandy Nicol

Venue: Friends Meeting House, 21 King Street, HEREFORD, HR4 9BX

(Access is via a passage off King Street, adjacent to an estate agent.)

​​Dates: Classes run throughout the year, usually with breaks for the school holidays. See 'upcoming classes' below for current dates.

Facility fee: £6 per class / £3.50 unwaged (retired, unemployed etc.) including refreshments.

Attend the series or drop in for individual classes. No need to book.

Thursday, 6th June - ‘How to Solve Our Human Problems’
Craving, or what Buddha called ‘attachment’ is a mind which never lets us rest, making us needy, dissatisfied and frustrated. Meditation helps us to overcome this real inner problem and find contentment and peace. Find out more in this class.

Thursday, 13th June - ‘Seeing Life as Precious’
Inspiration is not something we should wait for, hoping it will arise by chance. In this class we will learn to consciously cultivate our sense that our life is beautiful and precious using a meditation we can carry with us into daily life.

Thursday, 20th June - ‘How to Protect Yourself Against Negative Minds’
In this class learn how a clear recognition of our own impermanence is a powerful aid to combating bad mental habits and our best ally in creating new positive habits of mind.

Thursday, 27th June - ‘Healthy Perspectives on Suffering’
Suffering is a daily part of this world and so being able to use it in a positive way is important for a happy life. In this class we will explore Buddha’s teachings on suffering and how to use it to strengthen our positive minds.

Thursday, 4th July - ‘Accepting Help in Meditation’
Any success we enjoy always depends upon receiving help. Meditation is no different. Explore and meditate on Buddha’s teachings on how to find the help we need in this class.

Thursday, 11th July -‘How to Create Peace One Moment at a Time’
Positive actions create the causes for happiness, negative actions create the causes for suffering. In this class we will explore how to gain confidence in this truth and harness it to make real, lasting change in our life.

Thursday, 18th July - ‘Leaving Suffering Behind’
Everyone, in their heart of hearts, wishes to leave suffering behind for good. When we understand the root cause of all our pain is in our own mind, then we can start to move to the lasting happiness we wish for. In this class learn how to take steps towards this goal.
